The engineering management graduate program focuses on the convergence of engineering, management and technology in high technology environments. Through this program, you will gain understanding of concepts and theories underlying contemporary techniques in the management and operation of technology-based organizations, as well as how to apply these principles in real-life situations.

A total of 30 credit hours of coursework is required to complete this degree. Graduates of our programs are in high demand and many employers provide education benefits to working engineers who are pursuing this degree.

DELIVERY FORMAT: Missouri S&T's unique approach to delivering distance education is designed for working professionals. Live class participation through streaming video maintains the student-to-faculty interaction and enhances the learner experience through the use of the latest technology. Classes are recorded and archived online for review and easy access. Canvas is the learning management system for the campus.

Admissions & Requirements

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  1. Bachelor’s in engineering, math, or physical science.
  2. Cumulative Undergraduate GPA ≥ 3.0/4.0.
  3. GRE Score: (test taken on or after August, 2011): V ≥ 155, Q ≥ 148, A ≥ 4.0; -or- (if taken prior to August, 2011): V+Q > 1100, A ≥ 4.0.
  4. International requirement: TOEFL Score ≥ 580 (paper-based) or ≥ 92 (iBT).
  5. Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for an admission decision. Missouri S&T requires official transcripts from all schools attended before a student may register for a second semester at S&T. In order for a transcript to be counted as official it must be sent directly from the school to S&T.
  6. Statement of purpose (2-3 paragraphs explaining why you are applying to this program) and 3 letters of recommendation. You will be asked to upload or provide this information during the online application process.
NOTE: Individuals residing in MA are not able to enroll in this program.

  • ENG MGT 5111Management for Engineers and Scientists3.0 Credits

    The transition of the engineer or scientist to manager; study of management roles and theory, organizational systems and behavior, managing and motivating technical personnel, leadership, communication, processes, and customer focus. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.

  • ENG MGT 5320Project Management3.0 Credits

    Organization structure and staffing; motivation, authority and influence; conflict management; project planning; network systems; pricing, estimating, and cost control; proposal preparation; project information systems; international project management. Prerequisite: Graduate Standing.

  • ENG MGT 5412 Operations Management Science3.0 Credits

    Application of management science with an emphasis on supporting managerial decision-making. Design and operations of systems are modeled and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques implemented using modern technology. Specific approaches include mathematical modeling and optimization, probabilistic/statistical analysis, and simulation. Prerequisites: Graduate standing.

  • ENG MGT 6211Advanced Financial Management3.0 Credits

    Principles of financial organization and management in the technological enterprise; demands for funds; internal and external supply of funds; budgetary control; reserve and dividends policy. Emphasizes systems approach and problems of engineering design and automation as they influence financial decisions. Prerequisite: ENG MGT 1210 or 5210.
