Program structure and topics

The online masters in industrial engineering is non-thesis and 100 percent online: no campus visits are required.

Students typically take two classes each semester session and finish the program in two years.

Admissions & Requirements

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  1. A bachelor's degree

    Completed bachelor’s from a regionally accredited institution.

  2. 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale
  3. A written personal statement

    Statement of purpose describing your academic and career background and goals.

  4. 3 letters of recommendation

    Three letters of recommendation from three people who are well-acquainted with your academic experience and can attest to your intellectual, experiential and interpersonal abilities. At least one of these letters must come from a professor or other academic official. You will supply only the names and contact details of your references; the Graduate School will instruct them on how to upload their letters to your application.

  5. If English is not your native language, please submit a TOEFL score of at least 80 (internet-based test), an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 59 or a Cambridge C1 Advanced score of at least 180.
  6. GRE requirement is waived for applicants who have graduated from an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Transcripts of all previous college or university education. Upload unofficial transcripts in your online application. If you are accepted, you will be asked to provide official transcripts.
  8. Résumé or CV.

    Enable students to utilize advanced computational and data capabilities for research and industrial practice through 1) proper project, code, and data management techniques; 2) wide range of research workflows to solve complex problems; 3) integration of optimization or other domain specific software tools; and 4) parallel computing on High Performance Computing clusters.     Service systems contribute to more than 75% of US GDP and provide close to 80% employment. This course introduces students to service system engineering and management and will discuss models, concepts and solution methods important in the design, control, and operation of service systems. In addition, this course will provide students the ability to apply industrial engineering and operations research tools for analyzing service enterprises, including supply chain engineering, financial engineering and revenue management. Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: IMSE 4210 or Instructor's consent.
