Program structure and topics

The online graduate certificate in multicultural education is 100 percent online: no campus visits are required.

Online classes follow the same schedule as those on campus. Students typically take two classes each semester and finish the program in just over one year.

Admissions & Requirements

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  1. Completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate education.
  3. If English is not your native language, please submit a TOEFL score of at least 92 (internet-based test), an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 62 or a Cambridge C1 Advanced score of at least 185.
  4. Transcripts of all previous college or university education. Upload unofficial transcripts in your online application. If you are accepted, you will be asked to provide official transcripts.
  5. Two letters of recommendation. In the online application, you will need to supply names and contact details of two people who can attest to your professional competence, academic preparation and potential for graduate work.

    The purpose of this course is to increase the level of multicultural awareness, knowledge, skills, and relationship of school personnel working with diverse student populations.

  • ESC_PS 8550Diversity and Multiculturalism II - Practical Application3 Credits

    This course is part two in the Multicultural Education Certificate series of online courses designed for students working in a broad range of professions, such as health care, social work, education, school counseling, administration, etc. Students will examine various topics on diversity and multiculturalism to enhance their personal and professional development. To this end, the milieu of this course will be a safe online environment that is conducive to open dialogue, self-reflection, critical thinking, and questioning, and one in which students can actively engage in the learning process through affective and cognitive approaches. Postings, along with relevant readings and assignments, will be used as the primary tools and resources for this collective learning experience. Graded on A-F basis only. Recommended: ESC_PS 8450.
