Program structure and topics

Delivery of this program is 100 percent online: no campus visits are required. 

Courses are semester-based. Students typically take one or two classes each semester and finish in two years.

  • Planning, managing and integrating technology in an educational setting
  • Promoting the effective use of technology throughout the curriculum

Admissions & Requirements

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  1. Completed master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate education.
  3. If English is not your native language, please submit a TOEFL score of at least 80 (internet-based test), an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 59 or a Cambridge C1 Advanced score of at least 180.
  4. Transcripts of all previous college or university education. Upload unofficial transcripts in your online application. If you are accepted, you will be asked to provide official transcripts.
  5. Two official letters of recommendation. In the online application, you will need to supply names and contact details of two people who can attest to your professional competence, academic preparation and potential for graduate work. The Graduate School will contact your references with instructions regarding the letters.
  6. Statement of purpose.
  7. Résumé or CV.

    Study of concepts associated with action research; and the processes and procedures for conducting action research. Culminating project is the development of an action research project. Prerequisites: 12 credit hours completed prior to enrolling.

  • IS_LT 9471Instructional Systems Design3 Credits

    Develop knowledge and skills related to the systematic design of instruction. Learn to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning systems and instruction. Identify appropriate technologies to support learning and explore alternative models of instructional design.

  • IS_LT 7378Electronic Portfolio Development1 Credit

    This course provides an overview of electronic portfolio development. Students will select, categorize and document their accomplishments in the Technology in Schools emphasis area for review and assessment. Students will demonstrate mastery of the ISTE Standards and commitment to ongoing learning. Web development skills are required. Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: Restricted to students admitted into the Technology in Schools emphasis.

    Research methods and ethics of research in the social sciences, focusing on the information professions and learning technologies.

  • IS_LT 9467Technology to Enhance Learning3 Credits

    Strategies for integrating technology into the teaching and learning process, with a focus on enhancing how students think rather than what they think. Special attention given to supporting higher order thinking and problem solving with technology.
